Teamware Group, leading provider of intranet, extranet and Internet solutions, announces today an agreement with the FDA, the UK's Trade Union for senior public servants, to design, implement and develop their new web site.
The 11,000 members of the FDA include government policy advisers and senior managers, tax inspectors, economists and statisticians, government lawyers, crown prosecutors, school inspectors, accountants and NHS managers.
The new web site has been designed to fulfil a number of the union's objectives - improving its communications capability, giving better access to FDA services; developing union democracy and participation; and developing virtual working.
Teamware Pl@za is an interactive portal solution providing web design, content management and community building. It is ideal for a customer such as the FDA that wants to communicate better with members and stakeholders using more personalised information and targeted e-mail lists generated by the web site. Additionally, Teamware's web solution offers an easy way for union branches and sections to contribute material to the site. Behind all this, the database-driven web site is linked to and synchronised with the FDA's membership database, freeing up staffing resources in the head office and improving the quality of membership data.
Head of Communications at the FDA, Mr Simon Moore explains that the need for renewing the FDA's existing web site became clear as advances in technology and more affordable solutions highlighted the opportunities available. 'While the project is based around the web site, the benefits of Teamware's solution are far wider. We will be able to provide better services more effectively - both on and offline, getting members more involved.'
'Teamware's consultants have understood our specific requirements and have responded with a solution that allows us to rapidly take forward our wider membership and communications vision,' concludes Simon Moore.
Sales and Marketing Manager for Teamware, Sarah French states, 'We are delighted to be working with the FDA. Teamware is particularly strong in the association and trade union market segment and I am certain that the Teamware Pl@za solution caters directly to the FDA's needs. I am confident that the FDA and Teamware will develop a long term partnership based on flexible solutions and concrete delivery.'
The site is due to go live towards the end of September.
