New release of active e-mail and calendar access for mobile professionals
Teamware announces Teamware Mobile 2.0
 

Teamware Group, leading provider of software and services for communication and collaboration solutions, announces the availability of the new version of Teamware Mobile. Teamware Mobile 2.0 provides active e-mail and calendar on the go, efficient mail filtering, automatic calendar synchronization, and secure access to business critical information and applications. Version 2.0 introduces improvements in usability, administration and support for the latest smart phone models, including Nokia Communicator 9500.

"A number of organizations have already installed Teamware Mobile since the first release and are quickly seeing improvements in work efficiency. Teamware Mobile 2.0 offers a robust platform for mobile access to groupware mail and calendar and corporate information systems," explains Eija Suikola, Teamware Mobile Product Manager.

For the mobile users, the new version introduces usability improvements for the mobile device interface. The design of the synchronized appointment list in Teamware Calendar is enhanced, and the list can be sorted by edit time or start time. Teamware Mail filters can be changed directly from the mobile phone. Also, when the user suspects network problems, Teamware Mobile provides simple connection tests. "Teamware Mobile provides an easy and pleasant user experience: when the mobile phone is switched on, the system is automatically available," emphasizes Eija Suikola. She relates: "New e-mails and calendar appointments are signaled by an alert. Teamware Mobile keeps the user up to date and informed at all times."

Based on customer requirements, administration of the Teamware Mobile system has been developed considerably. The administration enhancements include a ready-made backup procedure, tools to check back-end connectivity and improved logging features. The mobile phones can be configured with automatic, over-the-air terminal management, using SMS messages to set up Internet connection points, e-mail and SyncML profile settings.

The early users of the latest Nokia and Sony Ericsson Symbian smartphones can avail of the functionality of Teamware Mobile 2.0 which provides support also for Nokia Communicator 9500 and Sony Ericsson P910i.

Teamware Mobile is a Java-based (J2EE) system running on Linux platform. It is based on common open standards (e.g. HTTP, XML, SyncML 1.0 and 1.1, IMAP, SMTP, JDBC, LDAP). Teamware Mobile is designed for Series 60 and UIQ devices that use the Symbian operating system, but the basic E-Mail functions - sending and receiving messages - also work in devices that support IMAP. In addition, basic calendar synchronization is available for all mobile devices that implement the SyncML standard.
