Teamware Group, leading provider of software and services for communication and collaboration solutions, announces the new version of Teamware Mobile - active e-mail, calendar and intranet services for mobile devices. Teamware Mobile 2.2 includes improvements for mobile phone users and administrators, and provides new tools to integrate corporate information systems securely to mobile devices. The new version adds support to PocketPC-based PDAs and Lotus Domino.
Several new features improve the mobile device user experience. Users can now set daily start and end time limit for synchronization according to their personal preferences. Another user preference recognizes when the user is travelling abroad and disables automatic mail and calendar synchronization to save costs. Mail filters include additional settings for the message age and a limit to the header size. For example, users can decide to keep only messages that are not older than seven days in their mobile inbox.
"We have added new user control options in the mobile device end, according to the feedback from our customers," explains Eija Suikola, Teamware Product Manager. "If so desired, synchronization takes place only during the selected hours of the day excluding night time. Important information reaches the users only when it is needed and the phone battery life is extended," states Eija Suikola, and continues: "New email rule options offer more flexibility as well."
Terminal Management makes administration of mobile devices effortless. Terminal Management allows installing clients and configuring the mobile devices remotely. Software can also be updated with Terminal Management. The force delete (a.k.a. poison pill) functionality protects sensitive data and access to back-end systems in case the mobile device is lost or stolen.
Teamware Mobile Express offers a groundbreaking tool to provide access to business critical systems. With the new Mobile Express tool, mobile front-ends to existing intranet, extranet or Internet services can be created quickly and easily. Business critical internal systems like CRM, internal news or organizational phone directories can be made accessible to mobile users over a secure connection.
Along with the range of new Symbian smart phones, there is now support for PocketPC-based PDAs including Qtek and HP iPaq. Supported groupware platforms now include Lotus Notes/Domino in addition to Novell GroupWise - including the upcoming version 7.0, Microsoft Exchange and Teamware Office. Teamware Mobile 2.2 is available in July 2005.
