PRESS RELEASE  Sept. 3, 2002

Swedish Museum of Natural History Invests in Efficiency

The Swedish Museum of Natural History (www.nrm.se) has chosen Teamware to deliver their new intranet solution. It will be built on Teamware Pl@za®, providing the museum's 250 employees with a shared communications tool.

The Museum is an authority under the Swedish Ministry of Culture. Its mission is to promote the interest for and knowledge and research on the make-up and development of the universe and the earth, the plant and animal life of the earth together with human biology and the natural environment. With 750,000 yearly visitors, it is important to continuously build and offer new exhibitions. The Musem is now investing in an intranet solution to make information easily accessible and improve communication within their organization, and in addition to increase the feeling of community among the different research and administrative departments.

Teamware Pl@za is a Java-based platform that can easily be integrated into existing databases. The Museum can choose amongst a number of standard and ready-made functionalities and combine them according to their own needs and those of their cooperation partners. In the first phase the intranet will include among others the Interactive Business Card, Document archive, Feedback tool, Formpages and Special Interest Groups.

The Museum will be able to prepare and edit the content of the intranet themselves by distributing the responsibility for administrating, publishing and updating the information to all registered users. The new intranet site will be launched by the end of this year.

- It is very positive to see how an organization such as the Museum of Natural History can really tone up their operations via an intranet solution. We shall be part of the development of an efficient and user-friendly intranet where it will be easy to include new functionalities when any further needs arise, describes Erik Andersson, Director of Business Development in Teamware.
