Fujitsu Services has renewed the mobile office system used by Finnish Members of Parliament. The new wireless services mobilise the MP's groupware, including both e-mail and calendar services. The MP's will receive their e-mail messages and calendar entries automatically to their mobile phones.
The renewed mobile office service has been launched today, June 6. The initial number of users is 300 of which 2/3 are MP’s and the rest consists of Parliament staff. There will be an additional 50 users after summer, when the Parliamentary groups and the State Audit Office will join in.
The new mobile office service is based on the Teamware Mobile solution. The mobile office is instantly in use when the mobile phone is switched on, and the software works automatically in the background.
'When we decided to change the MP's mobile phones, we were under heavy pressure to update the mobile services to be more modern, more cost-efficient and easier to use. A pilot group of ten MP's have been testing the real-time services for some time now. They have been very pleased with the new solution, and are not willing to go back to the old one,' says Mr. Juha Suomalainen, IT Manager of the Parliament.
Fujitsu delivers the whole system as a service, taking care of all hardware and software included in the service production. Furthermore, Fujitsu is responsible for the performance and usability of the service as well as its maintenance and administration.
The Finnish MP's have been using Fujitsu’s mobile office services for a few years. The new real-time solution will make their use even easier and more flexible than before.
