PRESS RELEASE  Dec. 16, 2003

Teamware extends Teamware Office mobility and provides enhanced spam and virus protection

Teamware Group announces two important modules for Teamware Office mail and calendar users: Spam mail and virus scanner service for Teamware Office provides a specialist solution for protecting mail users from external threats carried by incoming and outgoing mail messages. Teamware Connector for SMS 1.2 is the new version of the short message gateway that enables users to send SMS messages via Teamware Mail and to synchronize their mobile calendars with Teamware Calendar.

Improving the spam and virus protection of already secure e-mail system

External threats against the safety and integrity of e-mail systems have increased vastly in recent times. These threats are caused by unsolicited commercial mail (spam) and viruses attached to incoming messages from known or unknown senders. With the increase in external threats additional protection is needed also in Teamware Office systems originally designed to resist external attacks and avoid spreading viruses.

Teamware offers a service that includes spam filtering and virus control for incoming and outgoing e-mail traffic. The service includes four steps: investigation of the current system and definition of the needed components, installation and configuration of the spam and virus protection solution, training of administrators and follow-up to guarantee that the protection works properly.

"This service makes the Teamware Office system very secure and resistant to spam and viruses. Our customers can continue to use their e-mail service effectively in spite of the continuous spamming and propagation of viruses going on around the world," assures Eija Suikola, Product Manager from Teamware Group.

The solution is typically based on the following software components: Linux /Unix/Bsd operating system tools, Sendmail/Postfix, Virus scanner, Mailscanner/Amavis and Spamassassin.

Extending Teamware Office to mobile devices

Teamware Connector for SMS 1.2 is the new, improved version of the short message gateway for Teamware Mail and Calendar users. Sending an SMS message from Teamware Mail is as easy as sending normal e-mail. The biggest benefit however, comes to the mobile device calendar users - Teamware Connector for SMS is used for synchronizing Teamware Calendar appointments to users with mobile phones having calendar or scheduling capabilities. Users can create appointments in both desktop and mobile environments and updates will be made accordingly.

"With the version 1.2 we have added support for SonyEricsson P800, the newest Symbian and the series 60 Nokia phones. The performance and robustness of the synchronization with various mobile devices has also been improved and extensively tested," explains Eija Suikola.

Teamware Connector for SMS runs on Windows NT/2000/XP on Intel hardware. The supported connections to the GSM operator include CIMD-2, Sonera Content Gateway, and AT-bearer connection.

Teamware Office contains everything needed for efficient collaboration and communication: secure e-mail, document management, enterprise-wide discussion forums and information distribution, personal time management and shared resource booking. Teamware Office runs in standard environments supporting Windows NT/2000, Sun Solaris and Linux platforms.
