Teamware Group and Capricode announced today a joint agreement whereby Teamware can offer customers easy and advanced mobile device management solution. SynchShield® offers a broad set of services for over-the-air management of security, applications and settings on Symbian smartphones and Windows Mobile PDAs.
Mobile solutions represent new challenges for IT department and mobile workers in relation to management, support and security of smart phones. By deploying SyncShield it becomes possible to save time and money by managing remotely all of these devices over the air from a central location transparent to the user.
The full range of SyncShield functions include application management (install, update, remove, start, stop and application inventory); client provisioning of e-mail and synchronization settings, access points, bookmarks or customized settings; safety features such as backup and restore, device lock and data wipe; and special features for diagnostics and enabling or disabling Bluetooth and camera functions in the mobile device.
The applications and the device management data are transferred over-the-air with a secure connection, and the completion of all operations are verified. For the mobile user the management operations are silent, not requiring end-user involvement.
The IT administrator manages all mobile devices through the web user interface of the SyncShield server. The server platform is based on Debian Linux operating system. The device management solution is independent from telecommunication providers and the clients supported – Symbian mobile phones and Windows Mobile PDAs – cover 95% of the current mobile device market.
Teamware will resell and support SyncShield solution targeted for the existing Teamware Mobile customer as well as to new customers. Esko Uotila, managing director of Teamware Group, sees SyncShield as an important enhancement to Teamware’s offering: “While the mobile e-mail and calendar synchronization user base has grown steadily, the IT departments have asked for a complete mobile device management solution. SyncShield is a practical solution to manage a wide range of mobile devices used by mobile workers.” “Our customers have reported that the cost and work for mobile device user support can exceed the support cost needed for traditional PC workstations,” tells Uotila.
