Teamware Group, leading provider of software and services for collaboration solutions and mobile communication, announces the availability of the new version of Teamware Office, a complete, modular set of collaborative applications.
Teamware Office version 7.0 Ed 1, which is now shipping, introduces new features and enhancements in security, effective use of information, efficient administration, and integration capability. “Continuous customer feedback and a customer voting conducted in 2004 were the key sources for enhancements in this release,” says Eija Suikola, Product Manager of Teamware Group.
Security enhancements
Teamware Office has a proven track record as a secure groupware environment, and customers especially appreciate the virus resiliency and secure mail features. The new version continues the tradition of high security by modernizing the Secure Mail functionality. It now supports the use of Java-based smart cards. It is also possible to use different certificates, personal and organizational, for signing and encrypting messages.
Effective use of information
Effective use of information is supported by several new features targeting end users. Mail filters can be run automatically when the mail client is started helping the user in organizing his email. Mail messages can now be restored from the wastebasket or personal folders to inbox and outbox both in the Windows client and in the Teamware Office WebService.
WebService has been revised and now has a portal-like top page with a new appearance and enhanced usability. The new Presence feature enables users to indicate their availability and view the presence information of others. Calendar and Presence information of selected users can be easily viewed by a favorites list. When the user is viewing almost any page in WebService, he can easily bookmark it, which makes it easy to organize shortcuts to the most-often used targets.
Efficient administration
Several new tools are made available for administrators. These include tools, for example, for password management. In addition, Windows client software installation is made easier by a new Microsoft Installer Package (MSI).
Integration capabilities
Teamware Office 7.0 Ed 1 introduces a set of JSR 168 based portlets for portal integration. The standard portlets include listings of email and forum messages and calendar appointments. Portlets will be available as a project delivered add-on.
Teamware Office integration with Teamware Mobile is enhanced with synchronization between Personal Address Book and mobile device contacts (available in Teamware Mobile 2.2).
