City of Valkeakoski, located 150 km north of Finland's capital Helsinki, has chosen Teamware to deliver its new intranet and extranet services. Teamware is a leading provider of municipal and regional portals. The extranet will provide an efficient portal service also to the municipalities in the South Pirkanmaa region. The main objective is to enhance inter-municipal communications and to develop regional cooperation.

City of Valkeakoski has been a long-term user of Teamware Office™ groupware. In addition to its own organs, the City has provided e.g. all school students with their own e-mail addresses. The current system is easily expanded into a versatile web service with the Teamware Pl@za® solution.

'Teamware Office will become a solid part of our new interactive intranet services. We will also build a number of different extranet sites,' describes IT Manager Markku Salakka of the City of Valkeakoski. 'Integrating Pl@za with Teamware Office is indeed very smooth. Both systems utilize the same user ID's and user information. What is essential for the user is the easy use of the service: updating the content of the sites does not require technical skills. The IT function of the City of Valkeakoski is responsible for providing, producing and maintaining IT-related services for the different city service centers. The main focus of the IT function is in common information systems.
