SyncShield Mobile Device Management - Case Stora Enso Wood Supply Finland
Capricode’s SyncShield mobile device management solution was selected to resolve Stora Enso Wood Supply's smartphone related challenges. The company has been satisfied with the ease of use and the time saving in the applications management.
The Need for Centralised Mobile Device Management
Stora Enso Wood Supply Finland woke up to the need for a centralised mobile device management tool when they made a strategic decision to extend their operative information system to be used and accessed also via mobile devices. This requires that a specific mobile application be installed to the mobile devices. Stora Enso Wood Supply Finland also uses the Mail for Exchange mobile email application. Here laid the problem, installing these applications manually to the mobile devices was difficult and time-consuming.
Decentralised Device Fleet as a Major Challenge
Stora Enso Wood Supply Finland’s smartphone users are located in 120 offices around Finland, which makes the device administration especially challenging. The IT administration is concentrated in one location in Finland which means that mobile device management is almost impossible without a proper tool enabling over-the-air operations.
”We chose Capricode’s SyncShield because it suits well for our device management needs. In addition, it is simple to use and therefore also a cost efficient solution.”
Ossi Kokki, StoraEnso Wood Supply Finland
Stora Enso Wood Supply Finland selected Capricode’s SyncShield mobile device management solution to resolve its smartphone related challenges. With SyncShield it is possible to, for example, install applications, configure device settings and protect the device data centrally, over-the-air without interrupting the device user. SyncShield was provided to Stora Enso Wood Supply Finland as a hosted service by Finnish service provider. The hosted service means that the service provider maintains the SyncShield server in its premises and Stora Enso Wood Supply Finland administrates the mobile devices itself through a web user interface. Purchasing mobile device management as a monthly fee-service without a need for server installations and maintenance was a natural choice for Stora Enso Wood Supply Finland, as the unit prefers to outsource its support functionalities.
StoraEnso Wood Supply Finland has been satisfied with SyncShield:
”The first thing that comes to my mind when thinking of SyncShield is the ease of use. In addition, we can install all the needed tools to the end user’s devices without wasting the end user’s time. This is an important advantage for us, for example, the time saving arising from centralised application installations can be even an hour per device when taking the device into use. Because our device users are spread all over the country, it is a necessity for us to be able to manage all mobile devices over-the-air, just like we manage our other devices."
