Virtualization and System Upgrades

Virtualization saves floor space and energy in the IT centers and makes better use of hardware investments. This feature story eplains more about the virtualization and system upgrades.

Virtualization is the standard procedure nowadays when the systems and the hardware needs upgrading. Several physical servers combined as one brings many benefits, including lower power consumption and heat generation, less floor space required and easier server management.

The server hardware has a limited lifespan and an old server with expired service quarantee is a threat to operational IT-systems. The individual physical server are also utilized below their capacity, typically only 20%-40% of the maximum is used. Renewal of the server hardware and a well planned virtualization brings the system utilization rate up to 80% and provides a solid operative platform for the years to come.

The hardware renewal and virtualization can be combined with the system and other server software upgrades. For example, Teamware Office server upgrade, Teamware Office Search and/or Archive Server installation and Teamware Mobile server can be combined to a single physical server with three virtualized servers. Teamware system specialists have a wide experience of virtualizing customer systems and installing new or upgraded workgroup or mobile systems to virtualized servers. The pre-installed servers when requested by customers are normally based on Fujitsu Technology Solutions hardware.
