Teamware Office News

Teamware development is focusing on the new versions of Teamware Office - Linux version this month and the enhanced version 7.5 the next year. The customer feedback gives the good guidelines for the new features.

Office NewsThe summer 2009 is turning to autumn and everyone is back to work from well-earned holidays. The projects of new releases continue. Teamware Office 7.4 (Windows/Solaris version) and the new Mail Archive product are already available. Now the corresponding Teamware Office 7.4 for Linux version with the same new features as the Windows/Solaris version is planned to be released in October. Read What’s New in Teamware Office 7.4 to check what the main features are.

Autumn 2009 will also see the availability of a new service related to mail archiving. (Read Teamware Mail Archiving to find out more about this exciting new feature.) The new service transfers messages from users’ offline mail folders to mail archive. Expert tools are currently being made to enable this relatively complex procedure that requires data conversion and transfer from local stores to the centralized Teamware Office Mail Archive server.

Moving offline messages to the Archive reduces administration and helpdesk workload. After the transfer, end users have all their old mail in one location fully indexed and accessible with powerful free text search. With mail archiving in use there is no longer need to store messages to local offline folders just to be sure nothing is lost. End users do not need to spend time to maintain their offline folders. Mail archiving captures messages automatically.

The next major Teamware Office release, version 7.5, is planned to be released in early spring 2010. The project is already ongoing and new features are being developed. In another article of this Webzine we tell about the candidate features selected from the Teamware Office feature survey 2009 results. Just to mention a few, other features on the roadmap for this release include the possibility to
  • define automatic mail filters in the Mail client (possible in the WebService 7.4)
  • display the number of unread messages in a folder
  • send a calendar URL in the same way as a library document URL
  • define appointment types and priorities to classify appointments
Keep an eye on the future issues of Webzine as we publish more details about Teamware Office 7.5 and the new features.
