Teamware Office is a complete, modular set of collaborative applications. It provides a robust and scaleable messaging environment combined with active information sharing, document management, and resource management functions. Teamware Office is a secure bridge between the merging network technologies. It enables teams to share and manage information in corporate intranets, supporting mobile and virtual office concepts, full Web integration, network security, corporate and public directories and connectivity for business applications.
Teamware Office is a set of groupware applications that provides users with an easy way of carrying out their office tasks and communicating with each other. The facilities are designed to meet the needs of users, whether they are individuals in local or remote offices, or members of a team within an enterprise or an external business partner.
Teamware Office is built on Internet standards. Relying on these open standards protects the existing IT investments and supports the stepwise deployment of Internet technology. At the heart of the system is a true X.500/LDAP based directory system that provides high scalability and connects users and information across sites securely.
Teamware Office can be extended with optional components, several connectors and it offers an easy-to-use, high-level application programming interface. Further information on these features can be found in fact sheets Connecting Teamware Office, Teamware Link, and Teamware XML Toolkit.

Functionality
Directory is the heart of Teamware Office. In addition to being a normal end user tool for maintaining personal address book and searching directory information, the Directory client provides tools to maintain user and resource accounts, user and resource groups and user templates for the administrator. There are powerful and versatile server end tools for managing a large number of directory objects at once. Directory can host multiple organizational directories and it can exchange information with other directory systems via LDAP standard.
Notifier is an integrated tool designed to help users keep track of activities within Teamware Office system and remind users of important tasks.
Teamware Mail is an intelligent electronic messaging system with searches, annotations, reminders, custom views, mailbox permissions, etc. Teamware Mail supports both the Internet and X.400 messaging environments as well as working off-line. Teamware Mail also enables users to send and receive signed and/or encrypted messages. Secure Mail features support S/MIME and PKCS#11v2.11 API for smart card handling.
Teamware Calendar is a flexible time management tool that helps people organize group meetings and book shared resources like meeting rooms or common equipment. Several calendars and calendar groups can be viewed across the enterprise in a single intuitive user interface.
Teamware Library is a collaborative document management system for storing and retrieval of electronic documents. Sophisticated version and access control makes it easy for users to work on shared documents.
Teamware Library offers versatile search functionality. Document properties like owner, version number, and author can be used as search criteria.
Teamware Forum is an electronic bulletin board system for discussions and information distribution. It provides intuitive access to grouped information, as Forum messages are linked into visual discussion chains. Forums are protected by access control. Teamware Forum integrates to Internet news groups with the NNTP-protocol.
Teamware Agents perform tasks on behalf of the user. SearchPro provides a free-text search facility based on the contents of documents stored in Teamware Library. With Teamware Offline Calendar the user can download selected personal, resource and group calendars to a workstation and view them in offline mode.
Teamware Office modules can be accessed with standard web browsers. Teamware Office WebService enables fixed WWW addressing for any Teamware Office object over standard HTML templates. WebService does not require a separate web server. WebService templates are customizable.
Documents residing in the Teamware environment can be accessed from the Web. On one hand, this allows centralized and secure documentation control. On the other hand, it allows as wide a distribution of documents over the Web as desired. When appropriate, the documents, calendars, discussions, and messages residing in the Teamware environment can also be made available to non-Teamware users through the Web. WebService supports the SSL3 protocol for secure communication between servers and browsers.
Teamware Office supports both centralized and distributed system and user administration. System administrators can navigate in the topology of a distributed system, perform system management operations on selected system components at different servers, and still obtain alerts from all servers. In addition, Teamware Office supports server based virus detection with Symantec and F-Secure (Linux only) virus detection engines.
