NFU is an organization for co-operation between trade unions that organize employees in the banking, finance and insurance sectors in the five Nordic countries. At present, nine trade unions are affiliated to the NFU, three in Denmark, two in Sweden and Finland and one in each Iceland and Norway.
Through its member organizations, NFU represents 165 000 employees on the Nordic financial market.
Integration requires co-operation
In the light of the rapid integration and the major structural changes that have taken place on the Nordic finance markets in recent years, an ever-increasing degree of co-operation and co-ordination is required between the trade union organizations of the field.
"Our main task is to promote the common interests of our affiliates in both a Nordic and international perspective and to improve their opportunities for exerting influence both in their day-to-day work and over issues relating to their long-term future," says General Secretary Jan-Erik Lidström from NFU.
Integrated communications
To be able to serve its member organizations' interests NFU needed an effective solution for enhanced communication and interaction. Teamware Pl@za fulfilled their requirements by offering novel services and an integrated platform for internal and external communication.
"Teamware Pl@za provides our members with a web-based service channel to enhance collaboration and a discussion forum for them to express their opinions," says Lidström.
Common platform for Nordic co-operation
NFU's decision to apply Teamware Pl@za reinforces the co-operation and streamlines the communications between the Nordic financial sector unions. Previously two members of NFU, Finansförbundet in Sweden and Trade Union Suora in Finland have chosen Teamware to implement their web services.
"The common platform makes our vision of the Nordic co-operation concrete. It also gives us possibilities to create new networks for example with the Baltic organizations," Lidström emphasizes.
