This article continues the introduction of new features in Teamware Office 7.1 Ed 1 that was started in the previous issue of WebZine. We will now have a look at other Window`s client, WebService and administration features. Please also notice another article in this Webzine that discusses Message Submission Agent, a new component in Teamware Office version 7.1.
The Directory client is now able to display five custom fields instead of the previous two. Displaying more fields makes custom fields even more useful as users will have easier access to the information.
Previously users, especially Secure Mail users, found it hard to select the correct entry from external directories as recipients to messages. This resulted from people sometimes having more than one LDAP entry to their name, but not all the entries containing their email address. A new feature does not allow users to select entries that do not contain an email address as email recipients, thus helping users to avoid failure when sending the message.
The previous Teamware Office version (v 7.0 Ed 1) introduced the capability to see the sender’s email address in offline messages in situations where the server connection is active. Now in version 7.1, users can also check the sender’s Internet email address in offline messages when there is no server connection.
There is a new administration feature that can be used, for example, in situations where users leave an organization. Administrators can disable the mailbox of a closed user account, after which messages are not received by the specified mailbox.
In addition to the Calendar and personalization enhancements in WebService that were discussed in the previous issue of WebZine, WebService offers several other new features. WebService Personal Address Book introduces two new operations i.e. user import and export functions and management of phone numbers. Phone numbers can be added, modified and deleted in private entries.
WebService password management features are enhanced with warnings for expiring passwords. Once the password has expired the change password form is automatically shown to the user.
Another new feature is the system messages defined by administrators that are shown to users on the top page after login. Administrators can use the messages to inform users in advance about upcoming services breaks.
WebService Library documents display the full path to the folder where the document is stored and offer a link to open the folder directly from the document. This is especially useful when users receive links to documents in email messages. Now when they open the document from the link in the message, the users can easily see the context of the document by accessing the folder.
