Hints and Tips for Teamware Office Users

Every now and then we receive enhancement requests for features that already exist in Teamware Office or there is an existing feature that can do nearly the same thing that the enhancement request concerns. This article covers four of these requests.

This year’s Teamware Office vote included a couple of requests for auto-filling the recipient mail addresses. This small, but handy feature is obviously requested to minimize the trouble of typing all of the same addresses over and over again. We are studying whether this could be implemented in v7.2. However, in the meanwhile there is already another feature that helps users avoid typing the whole address.

You can type in the recipient fields, for example, smit*, sol* and after who have completed the message with all other information and click Send, a search to Directory is made. A small dialog box is displayed with a list of potential matches. Select the recipient you want, click OK and the matches for the next address are displayed. Using this feature you can save quite a few clicks on the keyboard.

Two other requests from this year’s voting said that it is quite complicated that you have to send messages prepared in offline in “two steps”. These requests wished that the prepared messages would be sent automatically as soon as the server connection is available.

There is a preference for achieving this. In the mailbox window go to Options menu, Mail Preferences, Offline page. Here on the top of the page you can find a check box Send all unsent messages at startup. Check this on and now whenever you change from offline mode to online mode, the client will take care of sending the messages you prepared during offline mode.

Some users have asked for the possibility to use a semicolon [;] as a separator in recipient fields instead of a comma [,]. There is a preference setting for this as well.

In the mailbox window go to Options menu, Common Preferences, Regional page. There on the right hand side of the page you find a drop down list of List separators. You can select between a comma and a semicolon.

Another recent request asks for larger support for URL types the Mail client is able to recognize. The following URL types are recognized already by default (so you should see them underlined):

www.teamware.com
http://fi.fujitsu.com
https://securesite.com
ftp://somesite.com
ftp.site.com
news:epg.site.com
mailto:feedback@teamware.com
In addition to that, there is a configurable feature. You can add the following definition in twui32.ini:
[common] URLSchemes=urltype1,urltype2,...
For example:
[common] URLSchemes=file:///

When this is configured, the following line is underlined and clicking of it starts your default browser which tries to access the file specified.

file:///something
