Teamware Office 7.2 Windows/Solaris version was released in May and the Linux version in June. This article explains the main new features with pictures taken from the user interface.

Managing email is now easier than ever with the new features of Teamware Office 7.2. A brand new search function finds messages and attachments quickly and accurately. A wide choice of search criteria are available including sender and recipient name or Internet email address, subject, date range, and free text from message text and text-based attachment files (for example, MS Office documents, pdf, text, html, xml, OpenOffice documents, zip files).

The user can define simple one word or complex criteria with multiple words, operators and other search parameters. Wildcards * and ? can also be used and search scope can be defined. Fuzzy search are supported with ~ indicator.

For example, a recipient search with the following criteria

John (smith, smythe, smit)
will search for recipients whose name is either John Smith, John Smythe, or John Smit.

A search with the following criteria in the free text field

"Teamware Office" +search
will search for all instances where the phrase “Teamware Office” appears with the word search in either the message text or attached files.

The above example using Italian text and it is indeed possible to search text in different languages. Different character sets are supported for subject and free text searches.

Messages are indexed after they have been sent or received. The content of the whole mailbox is indexed and even messages moved to the wastebasket can be searched until the wastebasket is purged. User permissions are respected. Delegate users can make searches but private folders are automatically excluded from the search scope.

Storing mail messages and sharing information, for example, within a project or an active case is now more efficient as messages are stored to Teamware Library with summary header information to provide details of the origin of the message. The summary header includes sender, recipients, subject and time stamp information. This enhanced integration between Teamware Mail and Library gives new possibilities in storing messages in their business context.

Managing offline messages is also now easier than before. When composing replies to offline messages it is possible to search recipients from Organizational Directory provided the user has an active server connection. Messages composed in offline can be sent automatically without additional steps when the server connection is available.

Users now have a choice to save their signature file either on their workstation or on the server. When the signature file is stored on the server, users saves time and effort. The same ready-made signature is always inserted to their messages even if they use different workstations. Another new preference allows users to select the location to which the signature is placed in reply messages.
